Original oil painting of gnats in the sunlight at Diamond Lake, Oregon in early July. There were so many bugs there, it was overwhelming. But, because there were so many bugs, the lake was teeming with biodiversity. There were so many birds, bugs and fish in and around the lake.

The gnats were so thick, you could actually hear them. It was a primordial hum of the smallest creatures coming to life.
